Diamond stones are made by mixing ground diamond powder with a stone material. The resulting sharpening surface can hone even the hardest of metals. There are two types of surface on the diamond stone, an interrupted surface and a continuous surface.
The interrupted surface has a polka-dot design, which is slightly recessed to capture the small amount of swarf that is being removed, keeping the sharpening surface performing perfectly every time.
The continuous surface will also sharpen your knives and tools, but is easier to use for small pointed tools as they won't get caught in the recesses on the interrupted stone and damage the surface of the sharpener.
